Odds and pricing: where DraftKings pulls ahead

This is the clearest statistical difference between the two. Across 1,066 sampled DraftKings markets, DraftKings held the best available price 54.0% of the time. Across 594 sampled FanDuel markets, FanDuel was top price on 36.0%. DraftKings also carried a lower average margin — 4.25% against FanDuel's 4.45%.

What that means in practice: on a typical NFL spread, NBA total or MLB moneyline, DraftKings is more often the book quoting the better payout. The gap isn't enormous — both sit within a fifth of a point on our odds rating (7.9 vs 7.8) — but over a full season of parlays and straight bets, a consistently lower margin adds up.

The caveat is that no single book wins every line. Even at 54%, DraftKings loses the price on close to half of markets. If you can hold accounts at both where they're legal, line-shopping between them is the value play rather than committing to one. Apps: FanDuel narrowly on top

Both operators run full iOS and Android apps and both rate near the top of the market. FanDuel scores 9.3 for its app, DraftKings 9.2 — the narrowest of margins.

Both apps carry the same headline in-play toolkit: Live Betting, Same Game Parlay, Cash Out and Live Streaming. FanDuel's slightly higher app and live-capability ratings (8.9 vs 8.8) reflect a marginally smoother in-play and SGP experience in our scoring, while DraftKings holds a hair more market coverage (9.0 vs 8.9) and sports depth (8.9 vs 8.8).

For most bettors the two apps feel interchangeable day to day. If you already use one, there's no compelling app-only reason to switch. Deposit minimums are identical at $10, and both quote a 0–24h withdrawal window. The listed methods differ slightly:

Licensing and safety: identical footing

Both DraftKings and FanDuel carry a 9.3 licence and safety rating and both operate under US state gaming regulators — the New Jersey DGE, New York State Gaming Commission, Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, Michigan Gaming Control Board and others depending on the state.

The critical point for US bettors: sports betting is regulated state by state. A licence in New Jersey does not make either book legal in another state. Availability, the minimum age (21 in regulated states) and the specific rules depend on your state regulator.
