This matchday's fixtures and best odds
The standout fixture is Newcastle United v Liverpool (23 Aug, 15:30). Betfair leads the away price at 1.97, with the draw and a Newcastle win close together at 4.00 and 3.95 — a genuinely open contest at St James' Park.
- Arsenal v Coventry City (21 Aug): Arsenal 1.20, Draw 8.20, Coventry 19.50 (Betfair). A heavy home favourite on paper.
- Hull City v Manchester United (22 Aug): Hull 8.60, Draw 4.90, United 1.46 (Betfair).
- Everton v Crystal Palace (22 Aug): Everton 2.24, Draw 3.55, Palace 3.55 (Betfair). Tight throughout.
- Ipswich Town v Sunderland (22 Aug): Ipswich 2.82, Draw 3.50 (BoyleSports), Sunderland 2.78 (Betfair). Near-even.
- Nottingham Forest v Leeds United (22 Aug): Forest 2.38, Draw 3.50, Leeds 3.30 (Betfair).
- Brentford v Tottenham (22 Aug): Brentford 2.54, Draw 3.75, Spurs 2.88 (Betfair).
- Brighton v Aston Villa (23 Aug): Brighton 2.32, Draw 3.85, Villa 3.10 (Betfair).
- Manchester City v Bournemouth (23 Aug): City 1.50, Draw 5.20 (Betfair), Bournemouth 7.00 (Coral).
- Fulham v Chelsea (24 Aug): Fulham 3.60, Draw 4.00 (Betfair), Chelsea 2.10 (Ladbrokes).
Betfair holds the best 1X2 price on the majority of these fixtures, which fits its wider odds profile: it posted the lowest average football margin in our sample at roughly 4.6%, well below the 7% seen across most high-street books.
How we read these matches
The odds themselves are the most honest prediction available — they aggregate the market's view better than any single tipster. Where a fixture sits near even money across all three outcomes (Everton v Palace, Ipswich v Sunderland), the market is signalling no clear favourite, and a Bet Builder or draw-no-bet angle can make more sense than a straight result punt.
For lopsided fixtures like Arsenal v Coventry (1.20) or Man City v Bournemouth (1.50), the value rarely lies in backing the favourite outright. Bettors typically move to goals lines, correct-score or a Same Game combination instead. Newcastle v Liverpool is the pick of the round for a straight result bet: a 1.97 away price on Liverpool is close to even money, which is unusually generous for a title-calibre side away at Newcastle.
These are editorial readings of the published prices, not tracked win-rate claims. Treat them as a starting point and shop the line.
Where to place your Premier League bets
For consistently sharp Premier League prices, **Betfair** is the strongest pick here — its odds rating (8.9) and market-leading low margin make it the reference point for the fixtures above. Choose it if you want the best raw price and don't mind a functional rather than flashy app.
**bet365** rates highest overall for the football product (market coverage 9.6, sports depth 9.5, live capability 9.4) with Live Streaming, Cash Out and Bet Builder all present. Pick bet365 if in-play breadth and streaming matter more than squeezing the last decimal.
For Bet Builder and Same Game combinations on the weekend fixtures, **BetMGM** (Bet Builder 8.5, Same Game Parlay) and **Sky Bet** (8.4) score best. **Ladbrokes** and **Coral** stood out for competitive pricing in our sample (low margins around 5.7–5.9%), so they're worth checking against Betfair on individual selections.
